Our Ministries

Each week we minister to approximately six hundred children through the Farmington Sk8 Park, School Bible Clubs and the Path to Success Mentoring program.

Path to Success Mentoring Program

Mentoring

Our mentoring program reaches students at the elementary, intermediate, middle and high school levels; linking caring Christian adults with a youth that needs a mentor. The mentoring occurs during the school day at the school. Mentors volunteer 30-60 minutes, one time a week meeting with their student. The mentor isn’t there to proselytize, but to listen, help with socialization, build confidence, play games, and possibly help with school work. No special skills needed; just ordinary people with the love of Jesus in their heart that want to make a difference in the life of a child.

Interested in becoming a Mentor?

  • Attend a 90 minute training
  • Pass a background check (no cost to you)
  • Sign a Statement of Faith.
  • Commit for the entire school year (we believe that you will be blessed to be a blessing to a child and want to continue the next year, as well!).

Commit, Connect, Communicate, Cultivate, and Celebrate. These are the five areas of your service commitment.

Have you ever felt like you needed someone to talk to? Many children do too! You can be that someone by contacting YFC today! Contact YFC at (573) 747-1705 or text us at (573) 608-0032.

School Bible clubs

Bible clubs

YFC has Bible clubs in elementary schools throughout St. Francois and surrounding counties meeting before and after school, and “Campus Life” Clubs at the middle and high school level, which are led and initiated by students. As we gradually get back into full swing, we are seeking church groups and individuals to adopt a club for the new school year so we can provide a snack and other items for each club. We welcome you to contact us regarding the availability of adoption. We presently have 9 elementary and 5 middle/ high schools up for adoption.

Our hope is that by providing these Bible clubs, it will give these students a chance to hear and experience what they may not have the opportunity to otherwise (many of these students do not attend church on a regular basis).

These kids are eager to learn more about the Bible and the love of Jesus each week as they attend before or after school (with their parent / guardian’s permission, of course!)

Farmington SK8 Park

Skate Park Ministry

In the past 20 years many lives have been impacted as hundreds of kids visit the Skate Park each year. Tuesday evening Bible study group reaches 10-35 kids and some adults every week; along with Vacation Bible School in the summer. There are ministry-based activities during the year, along with the annual skate park competition during Country Days (first weekend in June) ; all organized by our skate park managers: Norman and Sherry Kissinger. Norm and Sherry are on-site most evenings; providing supervision, mentoring and food/ drinks for the youth.

Come join Norm and Sherry Kissinger, along with several other loving volunteers, for Pizza and Jesus every Tuesday at 5:00 PM. Let us feed you: pizza and God’s Word. All ages welcome!
